Just another slashdot user hoping for tomorrow to be somewhat like today, only a bit better.

User specifications

Be able to view each article using a URL.

Be able to view each comment using a URL.

When a comment is viewed the comment children are displayed under the comment according to the user or default display rules.

Hidden posts will always be displayed with a <hidden> tagged and collapsed.

A +4 or +5 post will force the parent post to be visible, even if it is just as a 'collapsed' message.

Comment Rating System

Option 1: Keep slashdot ratings of -1, 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 Option 2: Expand the rating system to have a range from -100 to +100 Option 3: Adopt a rating system of -1 to +100

Costs

How will the site be paid for? Advertising? Google ads? Community donations? Free? No ads.. Memberships? $5 per person per year can go a long way If so.. optional? What benefits if memberships are purchase? What model to use?
