			Yevgeniy Brikman (lead developer bringing the Play Framework to LinkedIn) has said in a [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8z3h4Uv9YbE#t=2439' video at JaxConf2014] that large code bases are hard to maintain if they're written in dynamically typed languages.

The gist seems to be that large codebases are hard to maintain anyway, but dynamic languages make it harder, because, for example:

			They don't have a compiler that detects certain kinds of errors, instead you have to write test suites to do the same thing.

			Many of them are allow code to be self-modifying

			They are often - although not necessarily - weaker in organisational features such as namespaces (e.g. javascript and php)
